Description
Marriage, family life, and sexuality have undergone profound changes since the nineteenth century, brought about by various social and cultural factors. Large sectors of the population in the Western world now hold views on marital morality and sexual ethics that differ greatly from the values and norms upheld by the Church. Many people wonder, for example, why Catholic moral teaching insists on understanding marriage as a bond between a man and a woman.
In these pages, the author presents and explains the Church’s teaching on marital morality and sexual ethics. Contrary to popular belief, the Church’s teaching on moral action is not based on mere “rules” or “commandments,” but on its understanding of the human person—a vision ultimately rooted in Sacred Scripture and Tradition.
